Iberostar Message Board

We just returned yesterday from our week long stay (10/17 - 10/24) and was truly impressed the whole time. This was the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. From the lush grounds to the buildings, wonderful.

Food - The food was better than I expected. I went in very nervous beacause I am a very picky eater and have a very sensitive stomach. But I had no problems. We had lunch everyday at El Faro near the pool and loved it. The buffet breakfast and dinner were also very very good. There were so many good and different things. We made reservations at the Italian (Lindo), Steakhouse and the Japansese. If you can, definetly go to the Italian place, it was amazing! The Steakhouse was good but it was an open air which I thought was silly for the men to have to wear long pants. The Japanese was also very good. The room service was delicious and prompt.

Room - Our room was in building 19, a little too close to the theatre bar. If you don't plan on staying up past 11pm, get a room in a building like 15, 14, or 13 which are a little farther away. I liked our room because it was so close to the main buildings. The maid was amazing and made the most beautiful animals with the towels. We left her $2 dollars every day and she was definetly worth it.

Pool/Beach - The pool was beautiful! Plenty of places to sit and tons of shade. Something different to see everyday. I was a little dissapointed in the beach. Perhaps the hurricanes from last month erroded it a bit and I found it to be rocky. Luckily, I don't like the beach anyway, I stayed at the pool.

Bars - They will make anything if you ask them to. We asked for Rum and Coke with Lime Juice and after a few drinks they got the hang of it and became excellent! Everyone was very friendly and were always willing to help.

Excursions - We went on two excursions. We did the deluxe Chichen Itza tour and we did the Tulum Half-Day tour. Both were completly worth it. Definetly do these if you want to see the real Mexico. Bring bug spray and sunblock.

Tips & Tricks - Many places do not accept American Express. Make sure to have a Mastercard or Visa card with you. You can always pay in American Dollars, but expect to get Mexican Pesos back as change.

These were the hardest working people I have ever seen in my life. They were always moving, always doing something. They were very polite and friendly and very funny! I was really impressed with everything there. I would go back again next week if I could.
