color=#0000ff>   Iberostar Message BoardWe arrived at the Paraiso Del Mar on October 10th for a 7 night stay which was our honeymoon. Upon check in I told the receptionist that we should be booked as honeymooners. Her reply was that she did not have that information and I should see the Apple Reps. So I went and talked to the Apple rep and he did have us as honeymooners. So off I went back to the desk. I told her what he said but needless to say still never received a honeymoon gift from the hotel which was promised.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, I mean breathtakingly beautiful!
The beach was in bad shape but I think it was because of the storms. Very rocky and a very extreme drop just to get into the water. Nice to lay out on the beach though, because of the condition of the beach there are not many people out there.

We stayed in building 10 because I had requested an oceanfront room, which was a mistake. Although it was a beautiful view it was quite a hike to the restaurants and lobby. When I say there is walking involved I really mean it. The shuttle that runs around the compound runs approximately every 30 minutes so you either have to walk a far distance or try to flag down a bellboy when they pass in their golf carts.

The food was fabulous. Everything we tried was great. Be for warned you are only allowed 3 reservations at speciatlty restaurants with a 7 night stay. Definately not enough. The steakhouse is a must. Everything that was said in previous reviews about the staff is true. They work hard and are extremely friendly. There's no service that can compare to the service in Mexico. I would return to Mexico for that alone.
This is a great resort just not for a honeymoon. There is no romantic feel to it. No little spots to be alone. In general no special treatment for honeymooners. So if you are planning your honeymoon, pick a resort smaller in size and more intiment.

Bring bug spray, they eat you alive if you don't spray exposed areas, especially at night. We went to Playa Del Carmen to shop, in my opinion, it wasn't worth the trip. All the stores have the same stuff and you can find it all in the hotel gift shop for only a few dollars more. My new husband Scuba dived off the resort and said that it was great. I believe it cost him about $70.00 and he was gone for about 6 hours. Even if you don't want to Scuba they give free lessons in the pool which is just a fun thing to do! We met alot of nice people and had a great time. We went to one of the shows and it was alot of fun. Not much nitelife as expected. I believe the plan is to wear you out during the day so you pass out at night.

Use your room safe. Your money won't get stolen if you don't but your ID and traveling papers might so be careful. It took us about 2 days to figure out where everything is, THIS PLACE IS HUGE!! In our opinion the Beach side is a little nicer than the Del Mar side so switch over if you can. Building 14 seems like it would be ideal. Its right near the pool and not far from the lobby and restaurants. Please email me at april@igrealestate.com with any questions. If you looking for a honeymoon spot contact me and I can recommend one but if its just a great vacation your looking for, this is the place. Beauty everywhere you turn, fun, friendly and great food. Bring a couple friends and this place is happening!
