Iberostar Message Board
We actually visited the hotel in September 2004. I am just a procrastonator!!!
FLIGHT: Booked through Apple on their airline USA3000.....Left Chicago on time. Excellent service. GREAT!
TRANSFER: Not knowing the Airport in Mexico. They have porters that assume a tip. After being transferred to Apple, we were shuffled around in the pouring rain! After approximately 45 minutes, we were transferred to a van, in which, the driver left our luggage sitting in the rain for 20 minutes??? Horrid service by Apple.
HOTEL: Upon arrival, we entered the gorgeous lobby and grounds. Check-in took a little time, but they were nice. We had paid $100 pp for a balcony room only to find out they were all balconies....Once again, Apple is to blame for this.... Our room was very comfortable and clean and our maid service was excellent. We tipped $3 a day in the mini bar and it was much appreciated. The grounds are exsquisite (sp????) Lush and immaculate! We chose to walk everywhere and enjoy the scenery. I took a roll every morning and afternoon to feed the fish and birds.
BARS: There were several bars around the hotel, but we preferred the Lobby and Cigar ajoining bar. Our favorite bartender was RON JONATHAN. If you see him, tell him Tom & Nat from Chicago say hello.... I Emailed Iberostar to let them know what a "star" employee they have!!!
FOOD: The buffet was good and average food. Pretty setting. We were only there 5 nights, so we had reservations for 2 restaurants. We found tipping employees to make reservations worked quite well. We ate in the Tropical, Japanese, Steak and I forget the other??? They were all okay.. The Tropical was my favorite, but my husband had a hard time, as he does not care for seafood. One day at the pool, they had paella and it was awesome!!!
ENTERTAINMENT: We only saw 1 show and it was great!!!! They work very hard and are very talented!!! The show area is crowded so get there early.
POOL: Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! It winds around and around and has several swim up bars to quench your thirst. Try to get a cabana, but you have to get down there early to lay down towels, magazines, etc....you can then go back to bed and return later.
PEOPLE: We aren't much for socializing, but people were friendly. The most annoying were the drunk yelling Americans (p.s. I'm American) I like to drink also, but yelling and screaming at 2 in the afternoon.....come on!
EXCURSIONS: We were only there for 5 days, so we didn't do any. Most of them we have done before at other locations. Most people coming back seemed to enjoy several of the trips.
SPA: I did get a pedicure and it was wonderful. They put it onto the room and I left it on my credit card and it turned out to be cheaper than I thought.
TIPPING: Tip Tip Tip!!! I know it's an All Inclusive, but these people work hard for very little. I was happy to tip seeing as the service was outstanding!!
OVERALL: We almost booked another trip there for December, but decided to try the Iberostar in the Dominican Republic and can't wait!
