color=#0000ff> Iberostar Message BoardWe took our children to Mexico for the first time. May 28, 2005 through June 1, 2005. This was the adults 4th trip to Mexico. The other trips were in January and February. I would stick w/ visiting in February or March. This was the first "family resort" we have been to in Mexico. We have always gone to 4 or 5 star adult only, so keep that in mind when reading this review. The temp was always over 90 and humidity was very high. It only rained one evening late. As for the resort, it was nice. The room size wasn't bad and had like a daybed attached to the wall which was big enough for our 5'9 13 yr. old to sleep on. The resort was very tropical with a lot of foliage everywhere. I prefer a more clear view and like to be able to see the beach from the pool and see the pool or the beach from my room. That is impossible at this resort. There is an area of "jungle" between the beach and pool area. You would never know you were near the ocean until you emerge from the "jungle". The beach is nice. There is a lot of room for swimming and the sandy area is large with plenty of Palapas and chairs.
The food was so so. We were only there four nights and I was tired of the buffets by then. We were only able to eat at the Tropical and the Steakhouse. I highly recommend the Steakhouse. The Tropical and Steakhouse are the only rest. that you can wear shorts two, so that is why we only ate there. Plus you can only eat at the Specialty Rest. two nights on a four nights stay. These two rest. are not air conditioned and they are the same rest. that you eat lunch in by the pool. There is another rest. near the lobby that is buffet for all three meals. The food wasn't bad, but it is not airconditioned. The shows were very good. My 10 year old and I loved them. There is quite a bit of walking required at this resort. I would recommend building 15, 14, 13 to be centrally located. There is only one building that is oceanfront and none that are oceanview. Be sure to tour the sister properties, they are beautiful and in a little better shape. You can tell this resort has a little age on it. The pool needs repairs and the steps are very sharp on the edges. The pool water was too warm, They needed more fresh water. It was like swimming in a bathtub. Not refreshing at all. The only time the temp. was good, was at 8:oo in the morning. I would probably stay there again if I could get a cheaper rate. My 13 yr old son loved, I think it was the endless Shirley Temples and the food anytime you wanted it. My 10 yr. old daughter would be happy anywhere there was a pool. She did enjoy the shows, ceramics by the pool and the activities by the pool daily. (Only to watch though, they were geared more toward teens and early twenties.) Be careful around the pool, it is very slick.
