color=#0000ff> Iberostar Message BoardThe Iberostar Paraiso Lindo resort is an absolutely wonderful destination for enjoying the sunny warmth of the Mexican Riviera Maya. We spent a week there at the end of October 2004. The Iberostar friends are a hard working group of young talents that put in up to 14 hour days, six days a week. They are there to entertain and assist the guests at the Iberostar.
The grounds at the Iberostar resorts are beautifully landscaped and well maintained.
The only disappointment I had was that there is no real snorkeling in front of the resort. The waves are too strong and the water is cloudy. However, it was just a short drive to a magical place called Xel-Ha (pronounced shell-ha). Here we chanced upon a sea turtle, a huge barracuda, stingrays and plenty of beautiful fish. Be sure to bring an underwater camera and lots of biodegradable sunscreen. This eco-friendly water park will not let you bring in any other.
Traveling to Mexico can be a rich and rewarding experience. However, this is their country and we play by their rules. A few things you should keep in mind before booking a trip to Mexico.
1)Do not expect fine Italian dining in Mexico. Try instead, perhaps Italy. Do not expect fine gourmet cooking at a Mexican resort. I can recommend several in New York or Chicago.
2)The spoken language in Mexico is Spanish. Do not be alarmed if the television stations only broadcast in Spanish. Again, this is their country, not yours.
3)Mexico is a developing nation with many hard working individuals utilizing the minimal job opportunities that are available. Tips are appreciated and in fact needed.
There are many negative reports in this discussion group about the food at this resort. This seems totally ridiculous to me. The food we tasted was much more than satisfactory it was actually quite good. The one hesitation that I have was at the Fondue restaurant. At this restaurant you cook your own food in a pot of oil at your table. Expect to wait Three to five minutes between bites. Too long of a wait for me but this too is acceptable dining if you have the patience.
Overall, this resort is great fun and/or very relaxing, which ever you choose. Have a great trip!
