Iberostar Message Board

Stayed at the Lindo 12/4-12/11 via Funjet and Ryan Air. No problems from Kansas City to Cancun but about 30 min. late on the return – could be worse. Customs was extremely efficient in Mexico, but I know this would be much longer during peak season. The Lindo was everything we hoped it would be. We are a couple in our mid-30s (complete workaholics) who wanted some serious R&R. The Lindo thoroughly indulged us; however, for those looking for constant excitement and activities, they offer that too. This was our first time at an AI, and we will certainly do it again.

The service is impeccable – ask (nicely) and you shall receive. The grounds are beautifully kept. This place is spotless. For any orchid lovers, there are orchids everywhere – though most are not in bloom right now. Tips were not expected but certainly appreciated. Quite frankly I was shocked that more people were not tipping for the level of service received. We tip far more in America for much poorer service. The beach was red flagged all but one day; however, there is an area where they will let you swim. The yellow flag day was awesome – we had a blast. The pools are unbelievable – lots of space.

In my opinion, the food is not 5-star; however, from talking to people who frequent AIs, the Iberostar food is far superior to others. As long as your expectations are not too high, you will enjoy the food. The breakfast buffet in the lobby is outstanding – best meal of the day. For dinner we had Tex-Mex (Maya) – good, Seafood (Maya) – OK, Gourmet (Maya) – good, Italien (Lindo)– OK for purpose of nourishment – not good for Italien, Japanese(Maya) – Good/ Banana Tempura is quite good. Again considering the number of people that are being fed each night, I thought everything was good – just not 5 star. You definitely will find something you like.

Drinks at the pool and beach are not made very strong but just ask if you want them stronger. Try a Melon Sour – Yum. We found the theatre bar to be a great place to get a drink before dinner (8:30 seating times for dinner) very quiet and great bartenders.

Went to Xel-ha by taxi. It was about $100 round trip, but for us worth it – not big on tour buses. This is great fun and we would do it again. Go early – we saw tons, but by noon the water was getting cloudy. Leave a whole day for this.

Also did the Jungle Crossing with Alltournative - WOW. It was great – one of our favorite days. This is not recommended for people with back or neck problems! I will be happy to explain these in greater detail, just email.

Overall, we had an incredible time and would certainly return. It was depressing to come home to 16F degree weather. You will have a great time at any of the Iberostars. We did lots of walking around the four Iberostar properties and would be happy to answer any questions before you go. Have fun.
