My husband and i had the best two week holiday 02/05/05-16/05/05 at the lindo! This hotel is fab, the complex is beautiful and well maintained with water fountains in abundance. The rooms are more than comfortable and the maid service is excellent (we tipped them a dollar a Day) and they left us varius towel features often with chocolates!! We also had a daily newspaper delivered. The weather was fab gorgeous sunshine everyday!!
The pool was huge with sections to suit everybody , the liveley crowd near the pool bar, the wave pool for the kids (and my husband). But being beach bums we went to the beautiful beach everyday- plenty of sun loungers available any time of day. The only down side for me was that the sea was quite choppy- not really into big waves!!! but my husband had great fun catching the waves on his lilo!!!
The food was excellent , lots of variety to choose from. The buffet breakfast and lunch had plenty of choices .The a la cartes were also really good our favourite being the gormet, steak house and the japenese is great entertainment. We had no problem in booking any of the restaurants just booked a few days in advance with the friendly concierges.
The lazy river in the complex is great fun too i must say it was very lazy!!! definately worth having a few goes on.One of the best things with staying at the lindo is that you have full use of all the facilities at all four hotels so you don't get bored!
Playa Del Carmen is worth a visit or two for shopping (everything is asda price) there is a free bus service from the hotel that runs every 30 mins.We also spent an evening in the town and had a great meal. the locals were friendly and we felt very relaxed, the taxi fare back was ok too $18
Tulum is worth a visit, we wanted to go chichen itza but the bus ride takes 3 1/2 hours one way!! But we had a replica pyramid at the hotel so we were'nt too disappointed!!
We also went to Xel - ha which is good but a full day would have been better as we didn't get to see and do everything.
We also went on the Fat Cat catamaran which was good but not for the weak stomached as it was quite choppy!!!!
A tip we would recommend is to have a pound sterling for the bell boys at the airport as they didn't want our dollar!!
We would advise to take sterling traveller cheques as the rate of the pound is stronger than the dollar at the moment!
Also ignore the weather forcast on the tv , they never got it right!!!
We had the best time at this hotel , the staff are really friendly and helpful and we can't wait to go back next year, we have stayed in iberostar hotels before and this is the best so far- you won't be disappointed!!!!!!
Abig hello to our adopted parents for two weeks Alan & Barbara , you guys were great and made our holiday more special, you drank us to shame on russo negros , more practice required for next year on our part!!! missing the 5pm icecream, hope the moon is still shining!!!!!
