Iberostar Message Board

I just returned from a week at the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus and
it was fabulous. I traveled with my husband and 15(almost 16) year old
son. The reason I mention that he is almost 16 is that you need to be
16 to enter the disco and seeing that he was 3 weeks away from his birthday I said he was 16 so he could have a yellow wriist band that would gain him access to the disco. I am delighted that I read the reviews on this site before I left because I found that several of the tips mentioned turned out to be extremely helpful. For example, I brought $100.00 dollars in single bills and left something for the chambermaid each day. I know it was appreciated. I was also able to easily tip baggage handlers, etc.
I made all my dinner reservations at the specialty restaurants on the first day so I was able to specify times that worked for my family.. also we alternated between buffet and the specialty restaurants. Another tip that I found especially useful was that you really do need to hit the beach if that is where you want your "home base" to be around 6:30- 7:00AM to put a towel on the lounge chair -if you want a shady spot under an umbrella. Last but not least bring your own suntan lotion - it cost a fortune in the gift store.
Other than that, my son loved the "speed boat adventure" that I booked
at the excusion hut-next to the pool- Matilda was very helpful guiding us to the right trip for an adventurous 15 year old. (cost $112.00 but worth it)
He had a blast driving the boat!!! I really cannot say enough wonderful things about this resort. We loved it and are looking foward to going back again.
