color=#0000ff> Iberostar Message BoardI took my wife here for our second wedding anniversary in June 2004, this was our second visit to the Dominican Republic.
As we often stay in Iberostar hotels we were not shocked by the style or quality when we arrived...but the lobby did have a WOW factor. The welcome cocktail was much apprceiated. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and wanted.
Our room was excellent with a well stocked mini-bar, we had a lovely view and the air conditioning was welcomed by us with open arms! Very nicely decorated and modern, clean and bright.
The pool area was superb and got well used by us, there is a whirl pool type of thing in the middle which we often used. The swim-up pool bar is brilliant just as for a Pina Colada with rum!!!
They have a few gourmet pre-bookable restaurants which we used and enjoyed and the buffet restaurant is excellent. Food and drink is all included at all hours so it is great value for money.
The beach is great, nice and clean with plebty of loungers. Sea is beautiful as you would expect with the carribbean. The hotel even has a bar on the beach.
There is a beach market in both directions where you cab get bargin gifts, paintings, etc. But do not pay more than 25% of what they ask, pay in US dollars instead of Pesos. If you see something you like don't go straight for it as they will notice this and the pressure will start in a funny way though. They are really nice and friendly people but obviously want to make some money. To give you a roughish guide. The big paintings 3ft X 2ft (ish) will sell for about £25, but they will start at about £100, but in dollars, so be alert!!!
We will be going back to this hotel and other Iberostar ones, as we know the quality is second to none.
