Iberostar Message Board

After reading a review about this hotel by a couple from york in the uk, i just had to add my points, my (now) wife and family went to the oberostar last sept / oct for our wedding, like many it was our first visit and we didn't know what to expect, but i have got to be 100% honest, its the best holiday i have had, the staff were fantastic, food excellent, rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, the reason for our trip and choice of hotels was mainly to get married there, we could not fault their planning and service, i would recommend to anyone wishing to marry over seas then this place is ideal.

As for the beach, no it wasnt white sands but it certainly was kept very clean, it was raked every morning, but in the end the tides did win ie, seaweed but its not the end of the world, if you do not like too much heat then the beach is the best place to be , it has a nice cooling refreshing breeze, unlike the pool area, which i might add is an ideal spot if you are an avid sun worshiper, the food, well what a choice there is, they cater for every need, we never had any trouble with the staff in any of the resturants, always smiling and always there to top up your drinks, these people never seem to have nothing but smiling faces, they are a credit to the hotel.

Trips away from the hotel are a must, horse riding in the mountains, monster truck rides, these are only two of the trips on offer, but are ideal if you want to see the real dominican republic, the only down side was when we visited puerto plata itself, as soon as you got out of a taxi a tour guide will attatch him self to you , this is ideal if you dont mind that but as all local tour guides they will only take you to places where they want you to spend money, so try to shake them off quickly and see the local surroundings under your own steam, again for a poor country the locals are polite and always smiling. The evening entertainment is pretty much repeated or on a simular theme, but even so, if you like to join in with them then they will find you , all good fun, drinks , well again what a choice, well i could write for ever about this place but i wont, all in all a fantastic two weeks and a fantastic wedding, thank you to all the staff at the iberostar hotel.
