Our family of 6 has just returned from a wonderful spring break at the Paraiso Maya. The only negative of our trip is that we were only able to spend 4 of our 7 nights at the Maya due to the fact that they were full. We spent our first 3 nights at the Moon Palace which I would NOT recommend. (Overcrowded and food was terrible.) No such problems at the Maya! We finally felt as though we were able to relax and start our vacation when we arrived. Check in was smooth and pleasant and the connecting rooms we requested were not a problem.
As other vacationers have posted, the resort is absolutely beautiful and spotless. Cleaning crews are constantly working at keeping everything looking great. Rooms were large, lovely and very comfortable. Staff was friendly and always eager to help. Food was really very good, especially for an all inclusive resort.
The pools are large and well maintained. Our 4 kids loved the wave pool. The beach is beautiful and well kept(unlike the Moon Palace beach) but the waves were very rough the entire week we were there. Entertainment is far from spectacular, but after a full day in the sun we were pretty much ready to call it a day after dinner anyway.
We had no problems with food or ice in drinks causing illness. We did not use tap water for anything but bathing. Teeth were brushed using bottled water. Why take a chance when the bottled water is right there!
Although we usually never go to the same place twice becuase there are so many great places to go, we will go back to the Maya again in the future. It was great!!
