Because I've read a lot of reviews on this site about the Maya I've decided to write also a review. We stayed 2 weeks in the Maya from the 25th of March. It is really beautiful like you're walking in a wonderworld and it is very clean everywhere on the resort.
We ordered room-service the first day because we arrived in the evening. It was very quick in 15 minutes! All the other evenings we have been to a la carte restaurants, we have tried all the a la carte restaurants of the Maya and the Lindo and had no trouble at all making the reservations, maybe because we always did the late shift. We would not recommend the Seafood restaurant at the Maya. I had the salmon and it was too well done. Also it was very cold there and the lights were too bright there so not a well atmosphere; we called this restaurant the Fridge! In the morning this was a breakfast-restaurant and this was very good. The Japanese was very nice decorated but also very cold. I liked the shrimps but the beef was also again too well done. The dessert was lovely. The restaurants we liked the best were the Italian and the Cajun at the Lindo (coconut shrimps! mmmm!) All the restaurants were very nice decorated in its style. And when you eat in the a la carte restaurants you would not think that you stay in such a huge resort, very nice!
The room was also nice decorated, we stayed in room 6561 This room was near the lobby so also not so far away from the restaurants and the theatre in lindo. For the beach it was a nice walk but we didn't mind for we could use some work-out! Speaking about work-out, I also liked the step-lessons. These lessons were given every afternoon at 3;30. The first week I went every day but the second week I did'n't because it was too hot. Especially since the Mexicans had put the clock an hour back at the 3rd of april it meant that the lessons were at 2;30 that's too much!
The bus-shuttle service to Playa was very good. If you want to go to Xel-Ha I advise you to buy a ticket at the Ado-busstation in Playa (near the 5th av), a first class return ticket is USD 16. When you go on a sunday and bring your own snorkling-stuff you can buy a standard entrance at the Xel-Ha for USD 23 !
So we had a very good time at the Maya and I can advise you to go there for your all inclusive vacations!
