color=#0000ff> Iberostar Message BoardMy 2 kids (16 and 10) and I just got back last night. I have no complaints about this place at all. Just the opposite. My only complaint was the Cancun airport. It's very disorganized and the people there will not help you one bit. My son and I flew in from CT and my daughter was flying in from Denver. I got there 1 hour before her and wanted to try and find her gate so I could meet her and we could all go through immigration together. Well, they had no arrivals posted and the people I approached for guidance basically shrugged me off and I was on my own. The lines at immigration were terrible (took over an hour to get through)..anyway we met up with my daughter and then found our GOGO/Olympus tour people. They were great, got us in the van and off we went. As soon as we reached the Maya, we were greeted with welcome drinks and quickly went through the check in process. We were driven to our building(#60 by the beach with the private pool.
Rooms : We had a junior suit on the 2nd floor (elevators are available) and it was beautiful. All marble and stone, lovely furnishings. Maid did a great job everday. My daughters 16th birthday was during our trip and they left towel swans with a birthday note and flowers for her on the bed.
Pools: Very clean. The pool nearest to the swim up bar was sort of noisy and crowded. The wave pool was awesome (kids loved it and I did too). The lazy river is very lazy but relaxing and fun. CAUTION : THE PATIO AREAS ARE VERY SLIPPERY - BRING WATER SHOES AND TELL THE KIDS NOT TO RUN !...we witnessed so many people wipe out and they were in pain!...
Food : OK...not great but who cares...The best food was at El Rancho steakhouse (they did a nice birthday singing thing for my daughter too)...But if you are hungary, you can get food at any time of the day at the buffets and the beach bar...
Beach : Really nice beach, very clean , never a problem getting chairs sunder the palapas. But, the whole time we were there, the red flags were up and the ocean was raging. This beach was not swimable. Thank god for the pools...We did spend a lot of time on the beach though...my son did the archery and air guns everyday and my daughter and I made pottery in a hut right on the beach...try this it's cool.
The people : Everyone that works at this resort is wonderful...we made so many friends and they remember your name... They work very hard....please leave tips...even a dollar means alot...I took $100 in singles and that was plenty...I did see alot of people who did not tip and I thought this was kind of rude. The staff bends over backwards for you and they really try to make your stay a good one. I'm sure that these people do not make much money...tipping here and there goes a long way.
All and all the trip was great and we hade a fantastic time. The place is really a work of art (even the public bathrooms). I highly recommend it!
