We just returned from a week in the DR at the Iberostar Punta Cana Feb 23-Mar 2, '05. Everything was excellent or better including the weather. All of the "rumors" from online testimony regarding Malaria, stomach flu and/or Viruses were just simply not true. We booked this trip for two (our 25th wedding anniv) in December '04 at $1370+tax and insurance, only to find an internet sale of $999 per person. We received a check for $740 just before we left! We took an all day side tour trip to Saona Island . . . the day was perfect as was the island. Anyone who goes on a trip like this and complains should stay home! (Prolly a whiner/complainer anyway)
A special thanks goes out to Emmanuel, Katrina, Ana, Lucy, Elizabet, Ramon and Manaudo. Their kindness, energy and hospitality made our time with them fun, memorable and wanting to return soon! The beach was awsome as was our room. "Cervesa por favor!!!" The bars/restaurants were terrific as well as the American and European buffets. We ate like pigs and drank like fish without any problems. Again, if you couldn't find something to eat that you liked, you should have saved your money stayed your arse home and had frozen dinners!
We are planning to go back to Aruba next year, but Punta Cana is on the list of places to re-visit.
Perhaps in '07?
