color=#0000ff> Iberostar Message BoardWe just got back from a 10 day stay at the Iberstar-Cozumel and had a great time. We decided to get married on the beach back in January 05 and decided on the Iberstar in Cozumel along with 20 of our family and friends. Elizabeth and Dapne were wonderful with the wedding preperations and the wedding was everthing we expected and more. This was extremely stress-free and we would recommend it to anyone interested. Everything was done through email and upon check in (which only took about 10 minutes and the bell boy took us and our luggage to our rooms) Elizabeth or Daphne will spend about an hour with you to finalize your plans. The judge was great and explained the Mexican customs of marriage during the ceremony and he seemed to have everyone's best interest at heart along with having some fun with us when the ceremony was complete. Once again it was everything we wanted. We chose to have our dinner at the Steakhouse (lobster salad, filet with shrimp, baked potato, brocoli and corn. The food and service could not have been better. (we chose cheesecake for our cake upon Elizabeth's recommenation and everyone finished it, this is a first for our family as we are not desert eaters) Our photos were ready for us by noon the next day and were breath-taking.
The entire staff was wonderful as were the "star" friends. We had 10 rooms all around the beach and pool which made it easier for family/friends that had children. I put a request in with the front desk along with Elizabeth and Dapne so our family and friends could be somewhat close together. Our rooms were perfect as we were only in them to sleep, shower and get changed, they did not smell musty as I have read in other reviews. The maid was wonderful and made sure the mini bar was stocked and we had plenty of towels and bottled water. Our room was cleaned everyday by 10 AM. The towel art on the bed and in the bathroom is amazing. It was something different everyday. While we were out gettingn married the maid came in and decorated our room with towel art and fresh flowers. She really went out of her way and it was so romantic.
We ate at all three resturants and liked them all. The Steakhouse was delicious as was the Mexican resturant. The wait-staff anticipated your every move and you had what you needed before you had to ask. The buffet was really good. The selection was plentiful. We had over 20 people in our group and there was not one complaint about food. The waiters in the buffet were just as good. If we went up to get seconds the dirty plate was gone before we returned to the table and we also had a refill of whatever we were drinking. If you ended up with the same waiter you did not even have to ask he would just have it for you. We also went to Carlos n Charlies one night and had a blast. Iberstar gave each of us 30.00
for food and drink along with a ride to and from. If you're going to Iberstar-Cozumel you have to do this. It was a crazy fun night.
The pool is a nice size and yes guest do save chairs and don't use them. Since we are early risers, we did not have a problem getting 3 or 4 chairs next to each other so we could all hang out together whether outside the pool or in it. The pool bar was hopping and drinks were plentiful. We met many of the guests and most of them were great. Many came down do the beach to see us get married. Nothing like making fast friends while you are away.
It rained one day, but because it is so hot we still stayed in the pool and played volleyball with the "star" friends while most guests went and stayed in their room waiting for it to pass.
The beach is a bit rocky so bring your pool shoes are you can get them when you get your towels. We had a ball snorkling and saw all kinds of things, we also had fun on the kayaks and hobie cats.
Just remember to bring your bug spray, it is a bit buggy even though the hotel sprays but that is the price you pay when going to the tropics. If you do go you will have a fun time but as with any vacation it is what you make of it!
