Iberostar Message Board

My family, friends and I all returned from the Hacienda Dominicus on the 15th July after a two week holiday. After a fabulous two weeks at the Iberostar Tucan in Mexico in 2004 we were hoping that this would live up to the same standards. It did exactly that - it was absolutely fantastic! The food was excellent and varied and the service was great. The staff are all so friendly, from the waiters (including the lovely Jose Luis and Manfriedo!) to the bar staff (Raul at the Beach bar especially). Even the cleaners and groundskeepers always said "Hola" as we walked past!

The beach is kept immaculate and the pool area is very clean too. Infact you'd be hard pressed to find anything that wasn't kept in perfect condition. The wedding chapel and lake is very picturesque with flamingos and swans perfecting the scene. The a la carte restaurants were always available when we wanted to try them, the Mexican restaurant being our favourite.

If you are into snorkelling or scuba diving then this hotel is the one for you. The guys who run the dive centre are the best - Patrick, Gustavo, Peter, David and Christina are all lovely people and the trips they offer are unbelievable. My sister and I are both scuba divers and we took our Advanced Open Water certifications whilst at the Hacienda Dominicus. We both agree the worst bit about diving is the boat trip out to the sites. Well at this resort all the dive sites are within a five minute boat trip, including three separate reefs and two ship wrecks. They look after their divers very well which put my mothers mind to rest at least!

All nine of us in our party went on a snorkelling trip booked with the dive centre. They took us out to bayahibe to a reef where we all got to snorkel for 40 minutes - longer if we hadn't tired out so quickly! We had the boat to ourselves and the boat driver offered us cold bottled soft drinks after the snorkel. Not only was the trip good value but we also got to see some of the island that we not have otherwise seen.

The whole family agreed this was one of the best holidays we've ever been on. We're going to be booking next years trip back to this resort very soon!
